Jim I like parts of the letter, mostly the big themes on safety. But I could not sign it because 1. It calls for a stop to research. 2. The 6 months time frame to have government do the list requests is unrealistic. It an easy rejection by government because it asks for the impossible. 3. It singles one company which is unusual at best and does not meet with the spirit of the rest of the letter, the tech not risks. 4. It is blatantly US focused and this is an internal problem

I think action must be taken but prefer the complaint to the FTC that is happening. I also think that Transparency is a starting place and the US government can demand that. It seems some parties are moving to let the courts decide once lawsuits occur as it happening with parents and copyright. I am worried that those suits will set precisent in favor of powerful corps if they fail or settle.

So much to do here and I am not sure if the answers or what governments can do about it. Thank for illuminating things and your perspective.
