I re-edited and updated this work on November 14th after seeing a few things of the news and online that just didn’t jive properly the announcements didn’t make sense and then that interaction on stage with Satya and Sam on OpenAI’s developer day… well that got me thinking… I didn’t practice what happened but I knew something was going on and man did it blow up…and then all of a sudden it was all back to the same with some different negotiation going on. I think more things will be uncovered about this negotiation and anybody knows about. It may be possible that Sam went to the board and wanted to sell to Microsoft with a plan to create new company on the side after selling it.. and maybe that was just in his mind. The board fight that could have been amplified and the arguments between the EA members... Could have been used as negotiating chips. One day Toner will write a book, unless she’s been paid already. The trajectory of all the board members should be watched carefully. Anyway back to 2 weeks ago… I was scratching my head.
Nov 14, 2023 — Something is brewing over at OpenAI. I think that will be big. These are inputs to a prediction. What’s unusual is that this positioning is happening in the open. I think OpenAI is framing it’s negotiation with Microsoft for this next round of investment.
- Sam Altman’s interchange with Satya Nadella during the OpenAI Dev Day. Pronoun analysis.
- The FT interview with Sam A, and the magical intelligence in the sky metaphor and discussion on wanting more investment from Microsoft…maybe
- The article about the 6 people on earth that can define and declare AGI as if it was a contract term … it would return OpenAI to not for profit and it would gain all the money from its endeavors and no longer share with MSFT … but it would still have to buy compute and data center power.
- OpenAI pay scales and news on how it is recruiting some people for 1M++ pay packets.
- Microsoft invests in Anthropic in a fat way.
Interpretation.
OpenAI want to transfer wealth from MSFT to it’s lead developers and researchers. It is setting the timing and terms for the end of its relationship with MSFT or at least threatening it.
